Alex Lee

Senior Travel Consultant

How long have you worked in the industry?

Since 2013

What interested you about being a travel consultant?

Every day is different in this job, great variety and learning about destinations all around the world whilst creating dream trips for my clients really appeals to me. Plus being able to travel the world for ‘work’!

Where you have travelled?

All continents except Antarctica (one day hopefully!), All states/territories of Australia.

My favourite travel destinations/highlights from my travels so far have been:

  • Galapagos Islands/Ecuador
  • Botswana camping trip
  • South Africa game lodges
  • European river cruise
  • Mexico
  • Philippines
  • Vietnam
  • Norway
  • Japan
  • Kimberley Coast cruise

I have also lived in Japan and Canada

Do you have a specific area of expertise?

Snow holidays are my passion, but happy to book all destinations worldwide!

Over the years I visited the following ski resorts.

Canada: Whistler (3 seasons), Lake Louise (1 season), Big White (1 season), Fernie, Kicking Horse, Revelstoke, Red Mountain, Apex Mountain, Silverstar, Sun Peaks

USA: Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Snowbird, Alta, Crested Butte, Telluride, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Vail, Grand Targhee

Japan: Niseko, Hakuba, Shiga Kogen, Rusutsu, Furano, Tomamu, Kiroro, Appi Kogen,

NZ: Treble Cone, Cardrona, Remarkables, Coronet Peak

What is your favourite holiday destination/s?

Anything snow – Jackson Hole, WY, USA or Kicking Horse, BC Canada are favourite skiing destinations for me. But as much as I am a ski junkie and love snow holidays, the plains and animals of Africa are my all time favourite holiday destination. A recent camping trip through Bostwana seeing an abundance of African wildlife up close and listening to lions roar whilst sleeping in a tent was incredible!

What is your number 1 travel tip?

Book two night stays minimum to explore each city properly – don’t be in a rush! And take out travel insurance from the day you book your holiday – some things are not covered if you take out your insurance just before you leave.

Why is it important to book with a travel agency?

To be looked after by a real person, with years of industry experience is a major point of difference when planning a holiday – whether it be a simple one way flight or a dream holiday – our expertise and industry contacts make a world of difference when it comes to the world of travel. The disruptions of COVID in 2020 taught us this – people that booked their own flights online were calling us in March 2020 asking for help with their bookings to try and get back to Australia as they were unable to call the websites they booked through – whereas our clients were promptly looked after and had us as a contact point to guide them through and put them on the next available flight.
