Arrival into Los Angeles on the 1st September and straight into 38 degree LA warmth to start our five-day stay in this vibrant city. I have been lucky to have travelled to LA many times, but there is always something new to see!
On arrival at Ramada West Hollywood our accommodation we set off to discover the shopping district, and that was just about day one done!
We made the most of our “Hop on –Hop off Star-Line Tours 3-day pass, touring via Fox Studio’s and jumping off at Santa Monica for the day to make the most of the shopping, cafes and taking in an “easy paced” return a bike ride to Venice Beach.
Great views and atmosphere, taking in the local “hum” and beach activities.
Next day still taking advantage of our bus pass, spent the day taking in the Hollywood “walk of fame”, seeking out of favourite actors.
We also took in the Chinese Theatre and all the downtown “buskers” and street performances that never stop to entertain.
Returning to the hotel we travelled via Paramount Studio’s.
Latino concert in the park and Union Rail Station with its historic architecture and vibe.
Day Four was a public holiday here and we went all out and hired a BMW convertible and took a road trip all day, down to see the original “Queen Mary”, outlet shops ending down the coast at dusk with the sun setting on the beach, so much fun and highly recommended ☺
Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, taking in the “high life” and high profile shops and cafes. After walking all day and finishing with a classic meal in a downtown diner, we said goodbye to LA.
Flight to Seattle and a total change of scenery and city life.
A cultural city, with amazing restaurants, and museums. The Pike Place market and a wharf full of colour, with many cruise ships coming in and out of the harbour, bringing many tourists and activity.
After two nights in Seattle taking in the sights, tomorrow we set off of Wallace Idaho. Wallace is a quaint country town, with a quirkiness that is unique and we loved it and enjoyed the warmth and hospitality within. They drive four-wheel farm gators around town more so than cars and have the most unusual shops, very fun and lots of characters
Our destination was a place in Montana called Babb, on the east side of the Glacier National Park, with one mission for in the morning.
Next day we are up and ready to make our 8 hour Glacier horse trail ride with Swan fitters through the East Glacier National Park……! It was one of the best rides we have ever experienced and our horses Elvis and Roller were fit and up to the task! We can recommend this ride to most riders of some experience, it is a long day in the saddle, however, the spectacular scenes were worth every minute ☺.
Off to Bozeman for a three day stay. This a good sized town with split of old town town location and a new town area as well. It has everything that you willl need and great location to experience Yellowstone National Park, which we did!
Bozeman has many outlying working ranches, which depicts this beautiful “cowboy country” true and real.
Yellowstone, is a vast open park with good facilities and many native animals ranging over the plains for everyone to enjoy, definitely a must visit destination.
Moving onto Boise we are on the road again over open plains, were numerous deer and wildlife are sighted along the way. Boise is very big industrial city, and on route to Portland Oregon.
Portland, again a large bustling city, with many superstores, like “Bass Pro” fishing, boating, hunting and everything you can imagine! Including a letterbox in the shape of a fish!
Heading back to Seattle and a visit to the Boeing factory, which was better than we expected. Very professional, informative and organised to tee.
We would go back again and absolutely recommend to tour to be on your itinerary as a “must see”.
Flight onto Las Vegas!!! Yeah..! This city is so much better than I expected. Our hotel “New York, New York was a great location and base to get around to all the local experiences. So many events and live shows to take in and tickets can be pre-purchased in Australia, so you don’t miss out!
There are lots to do and see, with many events free of charge!
We enjoyed three days of sightseeing, shopping and taking in a Cirque du Soleil performance and Ricky Martin, both fantastic!
Las Vegas is a town not to be missed at least once in your lifetime ☺
